Mr. Jyoti Prasad Gajurel is currently employed as Assistant Curator of the Tribhuvan University Central Herbarium (TUCH), located in the Central Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University of Nepal, in Kathmandu. He completed his M.Sc. degree in Botany in 2007, with a thesis entitled “Taxonomy of Family Commelinaceae in Nepal”. This M.Sc. degree was awarded with distinction and also won a university-wide award as best thesis of the year at Tribhuvan University of Nepal. He also is a lecturer in Botany at Golden Gate International College. His research interests include floristics of Nepal and the taxonomy of Poaceae and Commelinaceae. As the person in charge of day-to-day operation of the TUCH herbarium, he also has a strong interest in collections management. Currently, he is the only taxonomic specialist in Nepal working on the family Commelinaceae.
