Facilities

There are six laboratories cum classrooms in addition to a general research laboratory with research facilities. The Department also possesses a lecture theatre, seminar hall, computer facilities with unlimited free access internet service, and botanical garden. The Department is also equipped with thermocouple psychrometer, porometer, pressure chamber, PCR, thermocycler, bomb calorimeter, centrifuges, research microscopes, gas chromatography, laminar flow, spectrometers, electrophoresis system, electric balances, photography facilities, GPS, climate loggers, etc.

Central Instrumentation Room

The department has been developing a Central Instrumentation Room/ Research Management Cell, with the support of University Grants Commission Nepal, where various research facilities/ equipments will be available for researchers, teachers, Ph.D. Scholars and M. Sc. students.

Departmental Library

The library of Central Department of Botany was established inlate 1970s. This library is centrally located within the department. The library is rich in the collection of the literatures, with more than 1200 books, and more than 600 M. Sc. and Ph.D. theses in Botany.

Tribhuvan University Central Herbarium (TUCH)

Central Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University is a pioneer institute for teaching Botany since it was established in 1965. Based on the approach to develop a good environment in teaching and learning, central herbarium at the university was established. The name was given Tribhuvan University Central Herbarium (TUCH) which holds about 22,000 specimens. The TUCH was enrolled in Index Herbariorum in January 2001.
